Burrough was a standout football and track athlete at TSU from 1967-1969 under Clifford Paul (football).  A native of Jacksonville, Fla., he is currently 4th among the TSU career receiving leaders in receptions (128), 8th in yardage (1,912) and 9th with 19 career touchdowns.

Burrough was a first-round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints in 1970. He played 12 seasons in the NFL, one for the Saints and 11 for the Houston Oilers. A two-time Pro Bowl selection in 1975 and 1977, he led all NFL wide receivers in receiving yards with 1,063 in 1975. He’s the last player to wear “00” in the NFL as he also served as TSU's Community Outreach Liaison and a color commentator for KTSU football broadcasts in the late 2000s.
