BATON ROUGE, La. - The TSU women's track & field team finished sixth at the 2026 SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Meet on Tuesday evening.
TSU opened the meet with a strong performance in the heptathlon as A'Keela McMaster placed second overall and set her country's (Virgin Islands) national mark after totaling 4,540 points, while Diamond Barrett finished seventh. McMaster won the javelin and had a second-place finish in the long jump. She also placed third in the 800 and shot put while placing fourth in the 200. Barrett's finish was highlighted by a second-place mark in the shot put and a third-place finish in the 200.
Kennedy Haynes placed sixth in the hammer throw with a personal-best throw of 150-01 feet, while Mikayla Bell placed eighth (147-01). Jordan Flowers threw a personal-best 123-06 to place third in the javelin while McMaster placed eighth with a mark of 97-06 feet.
On Tuesday, Demaya Malone captured the SWAC's high jump title as she set a personal-best mark of 5-5.75 feet. Ryann Richards finished third in the pole vault (10-0.5) while Destinee Payne logged an eighth-place finish in the triple jump (39-11.25). Kennedy Haynes finished eighth in the discus (137-07) to round out TSU's field performers.
On the track, Stacy Guerrero ran a time of 40:13.37 in the 10,000 to finish fourth overall while Katherine Canchola ran a personal-best time of 11:45.33 to finish third in the steeplechase. The 4x100-meter relay team paced sixth (46.38) followed by Cesley Williams' fourth-place finish (53.98) in the 400.
Desirae Roberts (1:01.09) finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles while Canchola (18:57.35) and Guerrero (19:08.4) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 5,000. The mile relay team closed out the meet, placing fifth after recording a mark of 3:44.53.
