BATON ROUGE, La. - The TSU men's track & field team placed second overall at the 2026 SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Meet on Tuesday evening.
Donovan Brooks claimed the gold in the decathlon after totaling 6,152 points. Brooks won the shot put, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500-meter run while placing fourth in the high jump and long jump.
Jalen Walker placed second in the hammer with a mark of 188-02 feet, while Blaine Nunn finished fifth (168-05). Chris Johnson logged a mark of 24-4.25 feet and placed eighth in the long jump, while Donovan Brooks threw 160-09 feet to place eighth in the javelin. Walker returned to the throwing ring later that evening and earned a third-place finish in the shot put (52-6) while Nunn placed fifth (50-6).
On Tuesday, Walker placed fifth in the discus after throwing 153-03, followed by Jaden Brooks (149-07) in sixth. Adam Hines once again continued his dominance in the pole vault as he won the title with a 15-foot jump. Albert Hurd and Donovan Brooks also scored as both jumped 12-0.5 to place seventh and eighth, respectively, in the same event.
Ahmad Muhammad (50-10.25) and Braylon Carr (50-10) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the triple jump.
On the track, Manuel Garza ran a time of 33:08.23 in the 10,000 to finish fourth overall, while Jeremiah Barrera finished fourth in the steeplechase after clocking 10:07.73. The 4x100-meter relay ran a season-best 39.94 to place second while Donyea Jarmon posted a time of 14.28 en route to a sixth-place mark in the 100-meter hurdles. Garza ran a 15:31.27 to finish fifth in the 5000.
Joshua Brown found himself caught in a blaze as he ran a personal-best 10.24 to place second in the 100. Isaac Henderson ran 10.44 to place sixth in the same event. Brown returned to the track and ran another personal-best 20.68 to place second in the 200.
TSU's mile relay quartet closed out the meet with a sixth-place time of 3:16.10.
Jalen Walker was crowned the SWAC's Co-Field performer as he scored 18 points.
