HUMBLE, Texas – Texas Southern had nine-place finishes at the 74th annual TSU Relays inside Turner Stadium on Saturday.
Joshua Brown won the 100 in a time of 10.43 while Zion Ikuku followed with a 10.43. Kacy Kincade (10.45), Isaac Henderson (10.5) and Anthony Momon-Lattimore (10.52) placed 3-4-5. Michael Strange, Jr. won the 400 in a personal-best time of 48.09 while Bruce Prince placed second in the 800 (2:00.47). Manual Garza won the 1,500-meter run in a time of career-best time of 4:14.87 while Jeremiah Barrera (4:16.68) finished second. Garza also won the 5,000 in a mark of 16:09.10 followed by Gael Flores' second-place mark of 16:38.86. Barrera (16:47.17), Roberto Rodriguez (16:51.68) and David Livingston (17:41.71) finished 4-5-6.
Te'Drick Robinson posted a career-best mark of 14.66 to win the 110-meter hurdles while Donyea Jarmon ran 14.73 to place second. The 4x100-meter relay of Ikuku, Kincade, Raymond White and Brown ran 40.82 to place third.
Tyler Johnson won the high jump with a 6-6 while Xavier Bellard jumped 22-2.5 to win the long jump. Donovan Brooks jumped 20-9 to place second.
Jaden Brooks won the discus after a throw of 155-4 feet followed by Jalen Walker (151-5) in second. Swazi Gurnell (139-2), Blaine Nunn (136-8) and Donovan Brooks (125-10) finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Walker threw a length of 177-9 to win the hammer followed by Nunn (143-9) in second and Gurnell (129-19) in third.
TSU is back in action next week at the Victor Lopez Relays at Rice University as the meet spans from Thursday to Sunday.
