Several Tigers Post Career-Bests At Robert Platt Invitational

Several Tigers set career marks as the TSU men's track & field team participated at the Robert Platt Invitational this past weekend.

Gael Flores ran a personal-best 8:26.81 in the 3,000-meter run to place eighth overall and second in the SWAC. Manuel Garza (15:56.78), Flores (16:33.29) and Roberto Rodriguez (16:53.87) finished third, fourth and fifth in the 5,000 as the trio now rank second, third and fourth in the SWAC as a result.  The mile relay team of Michael Strange Jr., Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington, Patrick Goodman and Kacy Kincade finished second after running 3:19.05.

Chris Johnson jumped 23-8.75 feet to place second in the long jump while Adam Hines continued to rank atop the SWAC in the pole vault with a career-best and sixth-place length of 16-1.25 feet. Ahmad Muhammad continued his strong season in the triple jump with a second-place and career-best mark of 51-3 feet that ranks second in the SWAC. Braylon Carr finished eighth in the triple jump as he jumped 48-2.75 feet to place eighth overall in the SWAC.

Donovan Brooks finished ninth in the heptathlon with 4,454 total points which ranks first in the SWAC. Both Blaine Nunn (shot put) and Garrett Wilkins (heptathlon) moved to fifth overall in the SWAC after strong showings.

The team is back in action this Friday at Texas A&M University for the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
