Men’s Golf Place 4th at SWAC Championship, Shah 2nd Individually & Vasquez Earns Freshman Low Medalist Honors

The Texas Southern University Men's Golf Team posted a three-day total of 893 (301 – 290 - 303) to finish in fourth place overall at the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Golf Championship on Wednesday. The SWAC Golf Championship was hosted at Robert Trent Jones Trail: Oxmoor Valley.

Sophomore, Yashal Shah was the top scoring Tiger with his 1-under-par total of 215 (70 – 72 - 73) to finish in second place individually. Shah's final round included his third eagle for the tournament, three birdies, nine pars, and five bogeys or more.

Freshman Javier Vazquez was the Freshman Low Medalist with his T14th finish on 147 (78 – 69 – 77). Vazquez's 3-under-par second round was a tied tournament low score for the event.

Junior Bradley Lavinier (83 – 72 - 73) and senior Ravepon Kosalutta (76 – 76 – 78) tied on 230 and sophomore Ricardo Pham finished on 237 (77 – 82 – 78).

3. Prairie View A&M: 889 (305 – 295 - 289)

4. Texas Southern University: 893 (301 – 289 - 302)

5. Alabama State University: 894 (300 – 296 - 298)

6. Alabama A&M: 897 (295 – 304 - 298)

7. Jackson State University: 927 (303 – 320 - 304)

8. Southern University: 928 (310 – 320 - 298)

The SWAC Championship concludes the Tigers' regular season and their 2026-2027 season begins in the fall.
