Vazquez Cards 3-Under Par Round, Shah Individual Leader & Men's Golf Tied in 2nd After Day 2 Of SWAC Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Texas Southern University Men's Golf Team climbed up the leaderboard to be tied in second place with their two-day total of 590 (302 – 289) at the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Golf Championship on Tuesday.

Sophomore, Yashal Shah is the clubhouse leader following his even-par-72 second round for a two-under 142 (70 – 72) total. Shah carded a two-under-par opening round of 70 and his second round included his second eagle of the tournament, nine pars, and five bogeys. Shah has a one stroke lead over the entire field.

Freshman Javier Vazquez scaled up the leaderboard 21 spots and sits tied 6th individually after posting the tournament low round of three-under-par 69. Vazquez is currently at 147 (78 – 69) after carding five birdies, 11 pars, and two bogeys in his second round.

Senior Ravepon Kosalutta rose four spots on the leaderboard to T19 with his 152 (76 – 76) total. Junior Bradley Lavinier also made his way up the leaderboard with his even-par-second round and sits at 155 (83 – 72).

The updated standings have Arkansas-Pine Bluff leading the tournament on 586 (287 – 299), Texas Southern University (301 – 289) tied in 2nd place with Florida A&M (290 – 299) on 591, while Alabama State University sits in 4th place on 596 (300 – 296). Alabama A&M are in 3rd place on 599 (295 – 304), Prairie View A&M are in 6th place with 600 (305 – 295) while Jackson State University is in 7th 623 (303 – 320), and Southern University is in 8th place on 630 (310 – 320).

The competing teams are playing at the Robert Trent Jones Trail: Oxmoor Valley, a par-72 championship course. The final round of the 2026 SWAC Championships is Wednesday morning with a 7:30 am start.

The final round of the 2026 SWAC Golf Championship will also be broadcast on SWAC TV.
