Reyes, Ricks Receive All-SWAC 1st Team Preseason Honors, Softball Picked 2nd In The West

The pitching duo of Destini Ricks and Naomi Reyes were named to the 2021 Preseason All-SWAC softball team while TSU was picked to finish second in the SWAC West.
 
Reyes led TSU with 53 strikeouts in last year's shortened season while also winning three games. The junior from Edinburg, Texas threw a no-hitter in 2020 and also led the SWAC in strikeouts. Reyes finished the 2019 season with a 2.22 ERA and 101 strikeouts.
 
A 5-8 junior from Fresno, Calif., Ricks struck out 57 batters in 2019 and posted a 2.37 ERA while posting an 8-4 record.
 
Under the direction of interim head coach Raven Rodriguez, TSU opens the 2021 season at home on Friday afternoon against UTSA at 3 p.m.
