Softball drops 6-0 decision to Texas

Box Score AUSTIN, Texas- Texas Southern was unable to cash-in on key scoring chances as it was held to six hits in a 6-0 setback at Texas during Wednesday night action.

The Lady Tigers fell behind early after starter Tyra Williams surrendered a two-run double to Reagan Hathaway. The Lady Tigers threatened in the third, as singles by Briana Simpson and Domonique Tello helped TSU to load the bases, but Haley Smith popped out to end the potential scoring chance.

A RBI double by Hathaway helped key another two-run inning for the Longhorns during the third. In the fifth after the Lady Tigers escaped a bases-loaded jam of their own Texas Southern once again loaded the bases but Anisa Richardson went down swinging as the Lady Tigers came up scoreless. Texas scored two more runs in the late stages to seal it.

Amber Garza was 1-for-3 with a double. Tyra Williams received the loss, throwing 4.0 innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits. She issued six walks.
