Shannon named to 2015 SWAC All-Tournament Team

BATON ROUGE, La.- Texas Southern senior outside hitter Robyn Shannon capped off an outstanding career with the Texas Southern Lady Tigers volleyball program this past weekend by being named to the All-Tournament team at the 2015 SWAC Volleyball Championships.
 
"Robyn truly embodies everything it means to be a great student-athlete," said TSU head coach Jocelyn Adams. 'She has worked extremely hard while here at Texas Southern and we're happy to see her conclude her career as one of the best in the Southwestern Athletic Conference."
 
Shannon played exceptionally well throughout the duration of the event as she helped push the Lady Tigers volleyball team to within one match of a championship berth.
 
She had a team high 14 kills in a pivotal match versus Alabama State in her final career outing at the tournament.
 
The list of accolades headlining Shannon's standout career as a member of the TSU Lady Tigers volleyball program include three All-SWAC Team designations, as well as Freshman of the Year honors during her debut campaign. Most recently she was selected as member of the 2015 All-SWAC Second Team at outside hitter.
 
She leaves the program as one of the most decorated student-athletes in the history of Lady Tigers' volleyball and the impressive numbers she has consistently put up don't quite tell the entire story.
 
Over the course of the past four seasons with Shannon was a heavy contributor offensively and defensively Texas Southern has claimed three consecutive SWAC Western Division titles a feat that had never before been achieved in the history of the program.
 
"Robyn has been a huge part of all of the success we've been able to enjoy here the past several seasons," said Adams. "She will without a doubt be missed both on and off the court."
