PINE BLUFF, Ark. - Ava Coverdale opened SWAC play with an impressive feat as her four goals led the way in TSU's 8-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Pumphrey Stadium.

The Tigers wasted little time establishing control, scoring twice in the opening 17 minutes. Ava Coverdale opened the scoring in the 15th minute when she converted a pass from Gabby Gonzalez. Just over two minutes later, Coverdale struck again, this time assisted by Ava Magana, to give TSU a 2-0 advantage. Texas Southern continued to apply pressure throughout the opening half. Rayal Henderson added the Tigers' third goal in the 41st minute, sending TSU into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Coverdale completed her hat trick early in the second half, finding the back of the net in the 48th minute off another assist from Magana. Magana then added a goal of her own in the 60th minute to push the Tigers' advantage to 5-0.

TSU continued its offensive surge as Bianca Miller scored in the 75th minute. Henderson added her second goal of the afternoon in the 80th minute, with Juliette Gomez providing the assist. Coverdale capped her outstanding performance in the 83rd minute, scoring her fourth goal of the match with an assist from Miller to complete the 8-0 final.

Coverdale finished the afternoon with four goals on eight shots, including five shots on goal. Magana contributed a goal and two assists, while Henderson added two goals. Miller finished with a goal and an assist. The Tigers also controlled the overall shot count, holding a 25-8 advantage over the Golden Lions and putting 14 attempts on target. TSU goalkeeper Alicia Audu recorded five saves to preserve the shutout.

The victory marked Texas Southern's first SWAC win of the season and sets them up for an important SWAC showdown at home on Sunday, Oct. 4 versus SWAC rival Prairie View A&M inside Alexander Durley Stadium.
