• Texas Southern returns to action on the road in Lorman, Miss. this Saturday against the Alcorn State Braves at 3 p.m. inside Spinks-Casem Stadium.
• Saturday's contest will feature live audio on KTSU 90.9 FM and will be shown live on SWAC TV.
• TSU will face Alcorn State for the sixth time since 2018 as the SWAC rotation moved ASU off TSU's schedule in 2019. Formerly of the SWAC East, ASU is now in the SWAC West as of 2021 and faces TSU on a yearly basis.
• Alcorn State is coming off a road loss at North Alabama last week but has a 1-0 mark in SWAC play. The Braves have the fourth-best offense (426.5) in the SWAC and rank eighth in defense (422.5). They rank third in passing (297.5) as quarterback Jaylon Tolbert leads the way with 1,139 yards and 11 touchdowns. Since 2022, ASU holds a 3-2 lead and a 10-3 mark since 2011.
• The state of Mississippi hasn't been kind to TSU for more than a decade as TSU is 3-15 in the state since 2011. TSU is 1-5 in Alcorn State during that span with its lone win in 2022.
• Since 2011, TSU football is 14-56 on the road with a winning road mark (3-2) in 2025.
• A trio of TSU offensive starters earned 2026 Preseason All-SWAC Second Team honors in junior tight end Kordell Rodgers, sophomore offensive lineman Jayden Daniels and redshirt junior wideout Roriyon Richardson.
• Despite coming off a winning season for the first time since 2000, TSU was picked to finish fourth in the SWAC West by head coaches and sports information directors in the annual preseason poll. TSU returns six offensive starters and three on defense.
• The Tigers open the season with a new defensive coordinator in Scott Vestal.
• This marks the second consecutive year TSU will have six home contests as they played on Week 0 for the first time since 2017. Unlike last year, the caveat to this year's schedule is that TSU will play in multiple locations in the Houston area due to scheduling conflicts with its primary stadium in Shell Energy. TSU will play five games inside Aldine ISD's Thorne Stadium (19 miles from campus) and one at Reliant Stadium (7 miles).
• Cris Dishman is the 19th head coach in the history of Texas Southern Football. Faced with a tough task due to the program's historical nature (29 winning seasons in 79 years of existence), Dishman has set out to reverse the trend after posting a winning record following his second season.
