SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas Southern's Central Texas road trip came to an end following a 5-0 loss to Texas State on Sunday night.
TSU's Ava Coverdale had an early attempt but the shot was saved by Texas State. Several seconds later, the Tigers stole a pass at the 50 and Kinifoh Coulibaly made an impressive pass which dropped in front of the goalie but the goalie managed to save it before TSU could push it in. The Bobcats managed to strike first as they headed in a goal off a cross pass. Six minutes later, Texas State upped the lead to 2-0 after a shot which sailed right above the goalie's hands. The Bobcats added another goal several minutes later for a 3-0 lead while TSU had a pair of shots deep into the Bobcats' goal during the 25th minute.
The first half hole was too deep for TSU to climb out of as the Bobcats added two more for a final margin. Ava Coverdale and Savannah Muldrew both recorded two shots along with a shot from Emery Johnson. Alicia Audu finished the game with five saves in the goal.
TSU is back in action next Sunday at Sam Houston State for a 6 p.m. start in Huntsville, Texas.
