PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — Texas Southern jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, rolling to a 13–0 shutout victory over Prairie View on Friday afternoon at Tankersley Field in a SWAC matchup.

The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning and continued to apply pressure throughout, piling up 15 hits while holding Prairie View to just three hits on the day.

Texas Southern wasted no time offensively, plating three runs in the opening frame highlighted by RBI singles from Jonathan Trejo and Byron Robinson. The Tigers added another run in the second before breaking the game open with a three‑run third inning, fueled by a two‑run error and an RBI double from Zachari Pace to take a 7–0 lead.

Christopher Chavez led the Tigers' attack, going 4‑for‑5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Robinson finished 3‑for‑4 with two RBIs and two runs, while Anthony Ruiz added two hits, scored three times and stole a base. Evan Joubert and Miguel Morales each drove in two runs as Texas Southern consistently capitalized with runners in scoring position.

On the mound, Joshua Peña earned the win after tossing three scoreless innings to start the game, allowing just one hit. The Tigers' pitching staff combined for a shutout, surrendering only three hits while striking out three and issuing four walks.

Texas Southern added runs in the sixth and seventh innings before putting the game out of reach with a four‑run eighth, highlighted by a two‑run double from Joubert and another two‑run error.
