Texas Southern Edged in Game Two at A&M–Corpus Christi, 4–3

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas Southern outhit Texas A&M–Corpus Christi but couldn't push across the tying run in the late innings, falling 4–3 on Friday evening at Chapman Field.

TSU produced 11 hits in the loss, led by Erwin Cabassa's four-hit performance, including a double and a stolen base. Miguel Morales added three hits, while Byron Robinson delivered the Tigers' biggest swing of the night—a solo home run in the fourth inning that tied the game at 2–2.

Texas Southern plated two runs in the fourth after Cabassa singled and Robinson sent a one‑out blast over the wall off AMCC starter Nathan Mueller. The Tigers briefly moved ahead 3–2 in the fifth when Shaun Williams reached and later scored on an RBI from Robinson.

A&M–Corpus Christi answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, capitalizing on a triple from Isaiah Afework and a pair of doubles to regain a 4–3 advantage. TSU threatened repeatedly, leaving 10 runners on base, including opportunities in the sixth, eighth, and ninth innings.

Starter José Luccioni worked four innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits while striking out three. Landyn Grant was charged with the loss after giving up two runs—one earned—in relief. Mikelle Mason pitched a clean eighth with two strikeouts.

Despite out-hitting the Islanders and playing error-free defense, Texas Southern finished just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position, while AMCC managed to hold off every late push.
