Box Score ITTA BENA, Miss. — Despite a career afternoon from Taliyah Logwood, Texas Southern could not overcome Mississippi Valley State's fourth-quarter surge in a 78–64 loss Saturday at the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex.
Logwood led all scorers with 33 points on 12-for-21 shooting, including a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range, while adding nine rebounds. She scored 18 of TSU's 20 points in the third quarter, keeping the Tigers within one possession heading into the final frame.
Texas Southern trailed 53–52 entering the fourth, but Mississippi Valley State used a 25-point quarter to pull away. The Devilettes shot 69 percent from the floor in the fourth and outscored TSU 14–6 in points off turnovers during the period.
MVSU's Jaeda Murphy paced the Devilettes with 22 points, while Janiya Jones added 13 and Desiree Smith posted a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Mississippi Valley State dominated the offensive glass, finishing with 22 second-chance points compared to TSU's 10.
Ayanna Jackson contributed six points, five rebounds and three assists for the Tigers, and Malaya LeSueur added six points and six rebounds.
