TSU Season Ends in 66–62 SWAC Tournament Loss to Bethune-Cookman

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — Texas Southern's season came to a close Monday morning as the Tigers dropped a tightly contested 66–62 decision to Bethune‑Cookman in the opening round of the SWAC Tournament at the Gateway Center Arena.

Texas Southern fought to the final buzzer and trimmed the deficit to two in the closing seconds, but Bethune‑Cookman secured the win at the free‑throw line—ending the Tigers' postseason run.

Taliyah Logwood led Texas Southern with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Alisa Blalock provided a major lift off the bench with 12 points, going a perfect 6‑for‑6 at the line. TSU's bench totaled 31 points, highlighted by scoring contributions from Aaliyah Henderson, Da'Myiah Lewis, and Malaya LeSueur.

After trailing 36–28 at halftime, Texas Southern surged in the third quarter with an 18‑point frame—its highest-scoring period of the day. A Logwood putback and multiple defensive stops helped cut the deficit to just three entering the fourth.

The Tigers continued to push in the final period. Lauren Perry opened the quarter with a layup, and Henderson's transition score brought TSU within two. With 18 seconds remaining, Perry buried a deep three-pointer to pull TSU within 64–62, giving the Tigers a fighting chance. But Bethune‑Cookman answered by knocking down free throws in the final moments to hold off the comeback.

The loss concludes the 2025‑26 season for Texas Southern, a campaign marked by growth, resilience, and emerging talent that positions the Tigers for an even stronger return next year.
