The Texas Southern men's golf team returns home this week for the Bayou City Collegiate Classic hosted by Rice University at Westwood Golf Club.
The Bayou City Collegiate Classic field includes Rice, Houston, Houston Christian, Abilene Christian, UTGRV, Lamar, UT Arlington, Louisiana Monroe, Utah Valley, Valpo, Louisiana, Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, and Incarnate Word. Individuals from Rice, Houston, and LSU will also participate.
The Bayou City Collegiate Classic is scheduled at Westwood Golf Club in Houston, Texas. The event will consist of a 54-hole team and individual stroke play format, with a shotgun 36-hole start for the opening rounds on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.
The Tigers posted a 36-hole total of 613 (311 – 302) to place eighth overall at the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. Golf Classic Hall of Fame last week in Georgia. Junior Bradley Lavinier was the top scorer for the Tigers following his 6-over-par 148 (75 – 73) total. Sophomore Yashal Shah posted a 151 (80 – 71) to finish tied 16th individually. Freshman Javier Vazquez (81 – 76) and sophomore Ricardo Pham (75 – 82) each posted a 157 total.
