Women’s Golf Takes The Lead At HBCU Hall of Fame

SUWANEE, Ga. – The Texas Southern women's golf team holds a one-shot lead for first place after their 310-opening round of the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. Golf Classic Hall of Fame hosted by the Black College Golf Coaches Association on Monday.

Freshman Carmen Pate leads the way for the Tigers after her 3-over-par 74 round and is tied for third place individually. Pate posted two birdies, eleven pars, and five bogeys for the day. Senior Azul Amezcua is two strokes back with her back on a 5-over-par round of 76 and tied for fifth place individually. Junior Shawnise Gregory posted a 7-over-par round of 78, while draduate student Alexa Gonzalez was 11-over-par.

The Tigers' final round of the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. Golf Classic Hall of Fame will be a shotgun start at 9:00 AM on Tuesday at Laurel Springs Golf Club in Suwanee, Ga.
