Women's Golf Grinds Through West Texas Classic

ABILENE, Texas - The Texas Southern women's golf team finished in 14th place following a battle through heavy winds at the West Texas Classic hosted by Abilene Christian University.

Junior Azul Amezcua was the top-scoring Tiger as she concluded her efforts with a 158 (78 – 80) total and finished tied at 40th. Graduate student Kenedi Lee finished four strokes back on 162 (79 – 83) while fellow grad Alexa Gonzalez posted a 164 (78 – 86) total. Freshman Shawnise Gregory carded a 36-hole total of 166 (84 – 82).

The West Texas Classic took place at Abilene Country Club on the North Course and initially was scheduled to be a 54-hole format. However, 60-mile-an-hour winds on Tuesday suspended then terminated play on Tuesday.

The Tigers return to action March 18-20, competing in the Hornet PR Invitational, which Alabama State is hosting in Puerto Rico.
