Akins, Bogerty Earn All-SWAC Football Honors

The Texas Southern football defensive duo of Isaiah Bogerty and Michael Akins were named to the 2025 All-SWAC Second Team on Monday.
 
A native of Stafford, Bogerty was the Tigers' leading tackler with 82 stops and tied for the SWAC lead in tackles per game with 8.2. The linebacker had four games with double-digit tackles including 11 on three occasions against Prairie View A&M, Southern and Lamar while also having 10 at Cal. He finished with no less than five tackles on the season as this marked a career season for him. Bogerty, who's scheduled to graduate on Friday, compiled 192 tackles during his four-year tenure at TSU.
 
Akins led TSU with a career-best 8.5 tackles for loss this season while compiling 34 tackles and a team-best 2.5 sacks. The Dothan, Ala. native also forced a fumble with two fumble recoveries while blocking a kick. Named the SWAC's Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 29 for his game-changing performance at Mississippi Valley State, Akins is scheduled to graduate on Friday as he compiled 110 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks over his four-year tenure.
