Texas Southern Overwhelmed by No. 5 Texas in Road Loss

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Southern faced a formidable challenge Sunday afternoon, falling 111–45 to No. 5 Texas at the Moody Center. Despite the final score, the Lady Tigers showed flashes of promise and resilience throughout the contest.

Daeja Holmes led TSU with 15 points, including four three-pointers, and added four assists and two steals. Maci Quiller provided a spark off the bench, going a perfect 3-for-3 from the field and 2-for-2 from deep to finish with eight points. Malaya LeSueur contributed seven points and a team-high three steals, while Da'Myiah Lewis pulled down a team-best six rebounds.

Texas Southern battled through a tough shooting night, finishing at 33.3% from the field and 28.6% from three-point range. The Lady Tigers recorded 12 second-chance points and forced seven turnovers, showing hustle on both ends of the floor. They also held Texas to just 28.6% shooting in the fourth quarter.

Texas was led by Madison Booker's 18 points and a balanced attack that saw five Longhorns score in double figures. The Longhorns capitalized on TSU's 33 turnovers and outscored the Lady Tigers 62–16 in the paint.
