TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Texas Southern Lady Tigers volleyball team brought their energy and pride to the Lawson Multipurpose Center on Sunday afternoon, but fell short in a hard-fought 3–0 match against Florida A&M.
Despite the sweep, TSU didn't go down quietly. Each set was a battle, with the Lady Tigers pushing the Rattlers to the edge in the second and third frames (25–23, 25–20). The match was filled with momentum swings, clutch digs, and powerful kills that kept the crowd on its feet.
Senior Kourtni Collier led the charge with 10.5 points and a .467 hitting percentage, while Lauren Battle added 8 points and Gracie Lee contributed 2.5. Kennedi Walker and Morgynne McQueen were active at the net, combining for 6.5 points and several key blocks. Libero Lauanna Pino Watanabe anchored the back row with 27 digs and a .857 reception percentage.
TSU's defense held strong with 45 digs and 3 total team blocks, while the offense tallied 39 kills. The Lady Tigers showed flashes of brilliance, especially in the second set where they rallied late to nearly steal the frame.
Texas Southern returns home looking to regroup and refocus as SWAC play continues.
