Lady Tigers Battle Hard in Road Test at Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Texas Southern Lady Tigers volleyball squad brought grit and energy to the Richard V. Moore Gymnasium on Friday afternoon, but fell 3–1 to Bethune-Cookman in a competitive SWAC matchup.

TSU came out swinging, dropping the first set 25–19 before bouncing back with a strong second-set win, 25–20. The Lady Tigers showcased their signature hustle and depth, with standout performances from Lauren Battle (14 kills), Morgynne McQueen (14 points, .769 hitting), and Ava Houston (.533 hitting, 9 points). The second set was a testament to the team's resilience, as they out-blocked and out-dug the Wildcats to even the match.

Bethune-Cookman responded in the third and fourth sets, capitalizing on transition plays and service pressure to take the match 25–20 and 25–18. Despite the loss, TSU's defense held strong with 10 total team blocks, and Kennedi Walker and Kourtni Collier added key contributions at the net and from the service line.

The Lady Tigers finished with a .239 hitting percentage and 67 total points, showing flashes of dominance and teamwork that will be crucial heading into their next matchup.

Texas Southern heads to Tallahassee for a Sunday noon showdown against Florida A&M.
