BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Texas Southern University men's and women's golf teams will kick off their 2022 spring season as they compete in the Birmingham Invitational hosted by the Southwestern Athletic Conference on Sunday.
The Tigers return to action after freshmen William O'Conner and Kci Lindskog were the top finishers for the team at the TVA Credit Union Invitational in October.
"We have prepared for the season opener," head golf coach Dr. Gary Grandison said.
The women's team concluded their fall season with three consecutive wins. Junior Ashlie Howard-Hobbs posted a 4-over 76 in the final round to finish second individually at the Birmingham Invitational.
"Our women's team has improved since last semester," Grandison said. "This spring opener will be an important event for both teams to assess how we compete in projected tough conditions."
The Tigers tee up for day one of the Birmingham Invitational on Monday at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail – Oxmoor Valley Ridge Course. Tee off will begin at 9 a.m.
