Texas Southern Football Announces 2016 Signing Day Class

HOUSTON- Texas Southern University head football coach Michael Haywood announced his 2016 football signing class today. Haywood, who was joined by local Houston media during the announcement feels like the Tigers' program addressed many of their needs going into next season.
 
"I have to commend my coaching staff on the great job they did recruiting in such limited time," said Haywood. "They arrived here and literally hit the ground running. We can't thank all of the high school football coaches across the state of Texas and the U.S. for their enthusiasm in working with us as we sought out to identify student-athletes that can come in here and make this football program better."
 
Texas Southern signed a total of 16 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. The Tigers also added two Junior College transfers and one Division I transfer. In all 11 of the 16 student-athletes signed today hail from Texas including six here in Houston.
 
"We had a great time visiting with some of our local high school coaches," said Haywood. "The Greater City of Houston has some of the strongest high school programs in the country and we wanted to capitalize on that by seeking to sign some of the local talent right here as we look to build the foundation of our program."
