SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas Southern took a 5-2 lead into the ninth inning on Friday against Notre Dame, but the Irish's Jake Johnson hit the walk-off single to give UND the 6-5 victory over the Tigers at Nelson Wolff Stadium.

TSU got on the board in the third, first when Blake Hicks hit a RBI single to left. The Tigers added two more runs when Ryan Lazo drew a walk and Jose Cabreja reached on an error.

The Tigers (2-4) added two more runs in the fifth inning on three hits, including a double by Hicks and RBI-singles from Lazo and Cabreja.Â
Notre Dame (2-3) mounted a comeback in the ninth, collecting four runs on five hits, including two doubles and a triple.Â
TSU starter Ryan Rios went eight strong, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits. Rios walked four and struck out four.

Robert Pearson (0-1) struck out one UND player before giving up two runs on three hits in the ninth.

Conner Hale (1-0) collected the win for the Irish, scattering two hits while striking out two over four innings of action.Â
