SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas Southern Baseball defeated 2015 NCAA Tournament team Bradley 9-7 on Sunday at Sullivan Field in the Irish Alamo Classic.
Texas Southern (3-4) found themselves down 5-0 through two innings, but scored five runs in the fourth and a run in the fifth to take the lead, 6-5.
Charles Guillory highlighted the scoring with a three-run home run to leftfield as the Tigers took advantage of a base on balls, an error and four hits to help score their five runs.
In the fifth, Joel Rosario singled to score Kamren Dukes, before Gerreck Jimenez was called out at second to end the inning.
Bradley (3-4) reclaimed the lead, 7-6, on a pair of bases-loaded singles by Tyler Leffler and Paul Solka in the sixth.
Texas Southern answered in the eighth with three runs on three hits. Sydney Daley and O. Oloruntimile tallied back-to-back RBI doubles to put the Tigers ahead for good.
Tigers reliever Robert Pearson (1-1), appearing in his second-straight game of the weekend, tallied the win. Pearson scattered four hits, four strikeouts and two walks over three and two-thirds innings of work.
BU's Jacob Hurst (0-1) suffered the loss by allowing two runs on two hits and one walk with one strikeout in 2.1 innings.
