Box Score HOUSTON – The Texas Southern volleyball team returned to its winning ways Friday with a three-set sweep of Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Prairie View A&M.

The Lady Tigers won the match with scores of 25-17, 25-13, and 25-17.

Texas Southern hit .293 as team as the Lady Tigers (9-8) ran their record in league play to 5-0. TSU players knocked down 43 kills while committing only 14 errors during the match.

Meanwhile, the Lady Tigers also held their guests' combined hitting percentage to under .000 Friday, as the Lady Panthers recorded 22 kills while committing 23 errors during the match. TSU's front line contributed to PVAMU's hitting woes, as the blocked nine of the Lady Panthers' attacks Saturday.

Alexis Austin posted a match-high 10 kills for the Lady Tigers while .364 for the match. Kali Fluke added nine kills and participated in five of TSU's nine blocks. She also tallied five digs.

Cassidy Jannson led the Lady Tigers' defensive effort with 11 digs, followed by Allison Woods and Brianna McKay, who tallied 10 digs apiece. Ellena Torres handed out a match high 17 assists for the Lady Tigers, while teammate Asia Howard chipped in 15 assists.

MoKeysha Shanklin led the Lady Panthers (4-11, 3-2 SWAC) with six kills. She had all six of her kills before the midway point of the second set, but came out of the match due to injury with TSU leading the second 8-5. She would later return to action, but could not find her earlier rhythm and tenacity that had kept the visitors in striking distance.
