Tigers Football New Home has a New Name

BBVA Compass wins naming rights to stadium

Houston, TX- The new home of the Texas Southern Tigers is now the BBVA Compass Stadium.  The naming of the stadium was announced December 14th during a news conference at the facility.  TSU athletics director Dr. Charles McClelland joined Manolo Sanchez, BBVA Compass president and CEO, Tim Leiweke, AEG President and CEO, Houston Mayor Annise Parker, the Harris County Sports Authority board and Dynamo president Chris Canetti for the announcement.

 

BBVA Compass Stadium will seat 22,000 and serve as home to the TSU Tigers football team and the Houston Dynamo soccer team.  The open-air stadium will also serve as the host venue for concerts, festivals, boxing, high schools sports, sports championships and other special events.

 

BBVA Compass as 45 branches in the Houston area as well as their corporate headquarters located just miles away from the stadium.  BBVA Compass stadium is set to open May 12, 2012.  Texas Southern's first game in the new stadium will be September 15th against Jackson State.
