Texas Southern head coach Kathryn Balogun has steadily elevated the status of TSU Soccer since taking the helm of the program. Balogun brought with her an impressive resume which includes coaching experience at several levels of women’s soccer.
Balogun joined the program after spending three seasons at Alabama State University where she served in the capacity of assistant women’s soccer coach.
She came to ASU after serving as the assistant coach at near-by Auburn University Montgomery. Balogun worked with all facets of the Auburn University Montgomery program and the Colorado native assisted the Lady Senators into the Top 25 ranking during the 2010-11 season.
Prior to AUM, Balogun coached at Darlington School Soccer Academy from 2008 to 2010 and was one of the founding assistant directors of the Proprioception Endurance Balance Agility (PEBA) strength and conditioning program.
Baloguns’ coaching resume also includes coaching for the Alabama Olympic Development Program and she currently holds a U.S. Soccer “B” License and NSCAA State Goal keeping Diploma. Prior to coaching Balogun played for Campbell University from 2004-2008.
During her time there she helped the Camels to the Atlantic Sun conference regular-season and tournament championships and was named to the Atlantic Sun Second Team and Conference Tournament Team. Balogun also received academic recognition making the Atlantic Sun All Academic recognition every year.
At Alabama State Balogun assisted the program in a variety of ways most notably handling administrative duties, coaching attacking (offensive) players and recruiting. She also assisted Alabama State Head Coach Jodie Smith in coaching the 2013 Lady Hornets to its first 14 win season.
During the 2013 campaign the team claimed its first Eastern Division Championship by going undefeated in conference regular season play. The Lady Hornets also advanced to its first conference championship match in school history.
Balogun graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Campbell University and she attained a Masters of Education in Sports Management from Auburn University at Montgomery.
