Zerick Rollins

Rollins returns to the TSU football for his second season as the team's quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator.

Rollins, who joined the Texas Southern football staff prior to the start of the 2023 season, found himself in a unique situation as an early season injury at quarterback changed the complexion of the offense overnight. Despite the change at quarterback, Rollins adapted quickly and helped turn Jace Wilson in the SWAC's Newcomer fo the Year as Wilson passed for 1,633 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first season as a Tiger. Wilson had two games with three touchdown passes versus Grambling State and Florida A&M while also throwing for a season-best 288 yards on 17-of-23 passing against Alcorn State. Wilson's success marked the second time since 2019 that TSU has had a student-athlete achieve SWAC Newcomer of the Year honors.

A Houston native and SWAC alum, Rollins spent two seasons with the USFL's New Jersey Generals overseeing the quarterbacks and wide receivers under current offensive coordinator Steven Smith. Rollins played a huge part in the success of KaVontae Turpin's MVP season at wide receiver while also coaching former TSU quarterback DeAndre Johnson in the USFL. Prior to USFL, Rollins spent three seasons (2018-20) as the scouting assistant for the Indianapolis Colts, two seasons as the offensive quality control/wide receivers coach at University of Louisiana Lafayette and two seasons as the offensive graduate assistant/quarterbacks/wide receivers coach at Texas Southern.

Rollins played quarterback at Air Force Academy from 2009-11 and then transferred to Alcorn State and finished out his college career (2012-15).
