Ty Knott joined the Texas Southern football program in 2011 as the special teams coordinator.
Knott has coached in the collegiate and professional ranks for more than 25 years.  Before joining TSU, he served as the Director of Player Development for the San Francisco 49ers for two seasons.

Prior to joining San Francisco, Knott was the offensive quality control coach with the Green Bay Packers for three seasons after working three seasons with the New Orleans Saints and a season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Before Knott moved into the professional ranks, he coached collegiately at Greenville, Ill. (2001), Mount San Antonio College (2000), Indiana University-Pennsylvania (1997-1999), Whittier College (1994-1995) and Oregon Tech (1988-1989), where he also played defensive back as an underclassman.

Knott also hosts the “Why Knott Dream Big Foundation Football Camp.”  He created the foundation to help support families of children with Autism and Apraxia.  The foundation’s mission is to help organizations and individual families through financial support.
