Quintin Smith joined the Texas Southern Tigers football program in 2011 as the tight ends coach.  Before coming to TSU, Smith was a scouting consultant for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Canada.

Smith last coached at Fort Bend’s Thurgood Marshall High School where he was the defensive backs and safeties coach from 2008-2009.

Smith was the offensive coordinator and receivers coach at Jack Yates High School from 2006-2008, and assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Ross Sterling High School from 2004-2005.  He was also Sterling’s head softball coach in 2006.

Smith was director of player personnel for the XFL Chicago Enforces from 2000-2001.  He was also an area scout for the Minnesota Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs from 1994-2000.

Smith signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 1990 and played with them until 1992.  He is a 1986 graduate of Jack Yates High School where he was a member of the 1985 Championship Team that went 16-0.  

Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Kansas in 1990.  He played football at Kansas where he earned All-conference and honorable mention All-American honors as a wide receiver.
