Dallas Blacklock

Dallas Blacklock, Sr. joined the Texas Southern football program in 2016 and begins his fourth year. Blacklock moves to the offensive backfield as the team’s running backs coach while also serving as recruiting coordinator after coaching the wide receivers for three seasons.

Blacklock played a major role in the development of wide receiver Darvin Kidsy in the 2017 season as he posted career numbers which included a 200-yard performance versus Houston Baptist. Despite playing at TSU for only one season, Kidsy finished as the team’s leading receiver which caught the eyes of NFL teams en route to earning a spot on the active roster of the Washington Redskins in 2018.

In 2018, Blacklock coached one of the top duos in the SWAC in Bobby Hartzog and Tren'Davian Dickson. Hartzog was the lone receiver in the SWAC to surpass the 1,000-yard mark while also tying for the conference lead with 56 receptions. Dickson also finished the 2018 season as the second-leading receiver in the SWAC with 815 yards and was fourth in receptions (46) while tying for fifth with six touchdowns. For his efforts, Dickson was named Preseason Second Team All-SWAC in 2019.

Blacklock came to TSU from the University of Houston where he served as the director of high school relations. While at UH, his role was to maintain and develop relationships with high school coaches statewide in addition to recruiting responsibilities.

Prior to UH, Blacklock served two years as head coach at Sharpstown High School in Houston ISD.

As Sharpstown's head coach, Blacklock compiled a two-year record of 16-7 including playoff berths both seasons. Blacklock's 2012 team finished the year undefeated in district play and advanced to the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.

During his two-year stint at Sharpstown, 19 players went on to play football on the collegiate level.

A graduate of Sharpstown, Blacklock had previously been a part of the school's coaching staff as an assistant for five seasons and spent one season as an assistant at Fort Bend Marshall before being elevated to head coach at Sharpstown prior to the 2011 season.

A Houston native, Blacklock graduated from McPherson College in May of 2003 with a degree in Religion and Philosophy. A four-year letterman as a defensive back, Blacklock earned NAIA second team All-America honors as a senior while also earning All-KCAC second team honors in 2002 and 2003.
