SAN FRANCISCO - Texas Southern volleyball fell to Northern Arizona 25-13, 25-19, 25-11 on Saturday at the War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.

The Tigers battled throughout the match but were unable to overcome a strong Northern Arizona attack as the Lumberjacks hit .326 for the match compared with -.011 for Texas Southern.

Northern Arizona controlled the opening set, using a .286 hitting percentage to build a 25-13 victory. Texas Southern recorded seven kills but committed 10 attack errors in the set.

The Tigers showed improvement offensively in the second set, recording 11 kills against five errors. However, Northern Arizona answered with 17 kills to take the set 25-19 and move within one set of the match victory.

Northern Arizona closed out the match in the third set, holding TSU to five kills and a -.154 hitting percentage while posting eight kills of its own in a 25-11 decision.

Lauren Battle led Texas Southern with eight kills, while Ava Houston added five kills and Morgynne McQueen finished with three. Battle also recorded a team-high 9.5 points and added one service ace. Kadence Davison directed the Tigers' offense with 13 assists and contributed eight digs. Ava Ray added five assists and seven digs, while Lacey Kusnier paced the defensive effort with nine digs. McQueen recorded two blocks, while Battle and Emory Harper each added one. Texas Southern finished with 23 kills, 22 assists, 40 digs and two service aces.

The Tigers open SWAC play at Mississippi Valley State on Friday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m.
