COMMERCE, Texas - The Texas Southern University volleyball team battled ULM on Saturday afternoon at the Field House, but the Tigers fell 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-12) in their second match of the 2026 season.
Texas Southern struggled to find its rhythm offensively in the opening set as ULM jumped out to an early advantage and closed the frame, 25-14. The Tigers responded in the second set, producing 15 kills and hitting .143 while keeping the match close. ULM, however, managed to hold off the Tigers and take the set, 25-23.
ULM regained control in the third set, hitting .432 with 17 kills and just one attack error to close out the match, 25-12.
Selana Morales led the Tigers offensively with 12 kills on .269 hitting, while Morgynne McQueen added six kills and Lauren Battle contributed five. Morales also finished with six digs and 12.5 points.
Ava Ray directed the Texas Southern offense with 15 assists, while Kadence Davison added 11 assists. Lauanna Pino Watanabe led the defensive effort with a match-high 17 digs, followed by Battle with 10 and Davison with nine.
Texas Southern finished with 33 kills, 54 digs, three blocks and two service aces. ULM recorded 42 kills, 48 digs, eight blocks and six aces while hitting .312 as a team compared to TSU's .102.
TSU closes out tourney play at 11 a.m. tomorrow against Southern Illinois.
