Men's Basketball Signs Pair Of Guards For 2026-27 Campaign

Texas Southern interim head men's basketball coach Shyrone Chatman has announced a pair of signings for the 2026-27 recruiting class in transfers Jason Kimbrough Jr. and Sayed Sayed.

A 6-0 guard from Maricopa, Ariz., Kimbrough will join the Tigers as a transfer from Bowling Green University. He helped the Falcons post a winning record this past season while dishing out a season-high five assists versus VMI along with highs in points, steals and free throws made against Aquinas.

A former NJCAA Division I All-American and All-NJCAA Region 4 honoree in 2024-25, Kimbrough ranked ninth nationally in assists (6.2) while averaging 18.6 points per game. A high-volume scorer, Kimbrough had 26 games with double-digit points including 14, 20-point games and a pair of 30-point games. He also had three games where he posted double-doubles.

Sayed joins the Tigers after a two-year career at Gillette College. The Edmonton, Alberta native started all 25 games this past and averaged 18.2 points and five rebounds per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the field. He had three games with 32 points each and nine games with 20-plus points. He was also named to the 2025-26 Region IX All-Region Team.
