Katy, Texas – The Texas Southern Women's Golf Team posted a 925 (309 – 301 – 315) team total to finish in 4th place overall at the 30th anniversary of the National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship hosted by the Women's in Golf Foundation on Wednesday.
Graduate student, Alexa Gonzalez was the top scorer for the Tigers with her tied 9th place finish on 227 (74 - 74 - 79). Freshman, Carmen Pate finished one stroke back on 228 (74 - 76 - 78) to finished tied in 12th place while fellow freshman Zufan Girard posted a 236 (76 - 82 - 78). Juniors Thaiz Amezcua (79 - 81 - 78) and Shawnise Gregory (78 - 77 - 83) finished tied on 238.
The WIGF National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship was hosted at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch with a 54-hole tournament format over two days. The Tigers conclude their regular season at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship on April 13-15 in Birmingham, Ala. at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley.
