Texas Southern Drops Road Contest at Houston Christian

Texas Southern built early momentum but was unable to contain Houston Christian's offense in the middle innings, falling 22–4 Tuesday afternoon at Husky Field.

The Tigers struck first in the opening inning, as Zachari Pace scored after reaching base to give Texas Southern an early 1–0 lead. TSU added two more runs in the second when Elijah Rodriguez delivered a two‑run double to left field, scoring Evan Joubert and Miguel Morales.

Rodriguez finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs to pace the Tigers at the plate. Pace was also productive, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored, including a triple in the fifth inning that helped Texas Southern cut into the deficit.

Houston Christian answered quickly, scoring multiple runs in each of the first three innings and pulling ahead 5–3 through two frames. Texas Southern briefly narrowed the gap to 5–4 in the fifth when Pace tripled and scored on a groundout, but the Huskies responded with a four‑run inning to regain separation.

The game turned decisively in the sixth inning, when Houston Christian plated 13 runs, capitalizing on walks, wild pitches and timely hits to extend the lead. TSU used five pitchers on the day, led by starter Collin Dennis.

Despite the final score, Texas Southern recorded eight hits and remained aggressive on the basepaths, creating scoring opportunities in the early innings before HCU pulled away late.
