Katy, Texas. – Texas Southern Women's Golf teams return to action this week as they compete locally in the National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship hosted by the Women's In Golf Foundation.
The Tigers posted a three-round total of 940 (310 – 305 – 325) to finish in 14th place at the West Texas Classic. Junior Thaiz Amezcua was the top performer for the Tigers with her 230 (76 – 77 – 77) finish. Amezcua's seven-over-par final round consisted of two birdies, eight pars, and eight bogeys or more. Freshman Zufan Girard finished four strokes back on 234 (80 – 75 - 79) while senior Azul Amezcua carded a 236 (74 -77 – 85).
The WIGF National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship will occur at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch. The tournament format includes 54 holes over two days, with the opening rounds beginning Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
