Texas Southern erupted for 18 hits and scored five runs in the eighth inning to pull away from Grambling in a 15–8 victory Friday afternoon at MacGregor Park.

The Tigers scored in seven of the eight innings they batted and finished with 13 RBIs, overcoming two three-run home runs by Grambling's Charles Ashe III.

Jonathan Trejo went 3-for-6 with a pair of RBIs and a solo home run in the sixth, while Shaun Williams delivered a decisive swing in the eighth with a three-run homer that capped the Tigers' late surge. Williams finished with four RBIs, two hits and two runs scored.

Texas Southern struck first in the opening inning when Byron Robinson drove in Zachari Pace with a sacrifice fly. The Tigers built early momentum in the second, plating three runs despite recording just one hit in the frame, aided by a pair of Grambling errors.

Grambling briefly seized the lead in the third when Ashe launched a three-run homer, but Texas Southern answered immediately. Evan Joubert's sacrifice fly brought the Tigers back within one in the bottom of the inning, and the Tigers reclaimed control with three runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Christopher Chavez and Trejo and a run-scoring double play.

Miguel Morales continued the offensive rhythm, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Chavez added three RBIs, while Pace reached base three times and scored three runs.

The game remained within reach into the middle innings as Grambling chipped away, including another three-run homer by Ashe in the eighth. Texas Southern quickly responded, stringing together five runs in the bottom of the inning. Morales delivered an RBI single before Williams cleared the bases with his home run to right, and Chavez followed with an RBI single to close the scoring.

On the mound, Joshua Pena earned the win for Texas Southern, allowing four runs over 3.1 innings while striking out two. Joshua Prieto provided stability out of the bullpen, surrendering just one run over 3.2 innings. Demarques Thompson closed the door with a scoreless ninth.

Ashe drove in six runs for Grambling, while Trey Bridges and Aidan Lopez each recorded two hits in the loss.

Texas Southern out-hit Grambling 18–12 and left just eight runners on base in the offensive showcase.
