Tigers Fall 2–1 Despite Strong Outing From Laviage

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas A&M–Corpus Christi used a sixth‑inning run and a strong bullpen effort to edge Texas Southern 2–1 on Tuesday evening at Chapman Field.

The Islanders broke a 1–1 tie in the sixth when Jarrett Flaggert doubled and later scored, providing the go‑ahead run in a game dominated by pitching. Luke Singleton earned the win after tossing two scoreless innings in relief, while Chase Mayer recorded the final three outs in the ninth for his first save of the season.

Texas Southern struck early when Zachari Pace scored in the top of the first, but the Tigers were held scoreless the rest of the way despite collecting nine hits. Christopher Chavez drove in TSU's lone run with an RBI single.

Texas Southern starter Zachary Laviage worked six innings, allowing seven hits and two runs—only one earned—while walking four. Kewan Braziel was sharp in relief, striking out three across two scoreless innings.

Pace and Miguel Morales each recorded two hits for the Tigers, who left 11 runners on base. A&M–Corpus Christi turned three double plays to stall several TSU threats.

Christian Smith Johnson paced the Islanders with two hits and two stolen bases.
