JACKSON, Miss. — Texas Southern used a dominant second quarter and a balanced scoring effort to earn a 60–46 road win over Jackson State on Thursday evening inside the Williams Center.
The Lady Tigers outscored JSU 24–14 in the second quarter to break open what had been a tight defensive battle. TSU led 36–24 at halftime and never looked back.
Daeja Holmes paced Texas Southern with 17 points, including four 3-pointers, while Jordyn Marshall added 11 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free‑throw line. Malaya LeSueur delivered a strong all‑around performance with eight points and a team‑high 12 rebounds, recording several key stops in the fourth quarter.
Taliyah Logwood also reached double figures with 12 points, including a pair of momentum‑shifting buckets in the second half. She finished 4-for-6 from the field and 4-for-6 at the line.
Texas Southern shot 32 percent from the field and 81 percent at the free‑throw line while holding Jackson State to just 23 percent shooting, including a 4-for-21 mark from behind the arc. TSU also forced 16 turnovers and scored 11 points off JSU miscues.
TSU built its largest lead of the night—17 points—late in the third quarter after back‑to‑back baskets from Holmes and LeSueur. Jackson State closed within 10 early in the fourth, but TSU responded with a 6–0 run to regain control.
The Lady Tigers will face Alcorn inLorman, Miss. on Saturday at 1 pm.
