Texas Southern University student-athletes Tess Kelder and Bradley Lavinier were honored by the Texas Southern University English Department as recipients of the Dr. Martin Beller Award for Writing Excellence.
Lavinier, a member of the men's golf team and Kelder, a member of the women's soccer team, were recognized for their excellence in student writing with Dr. Martin Beller Awards. Kelder also made history as the first-ever international student-athlete to receive this honor as she hails from the Netherlands.
The award honors Dr. Martin Beller, who served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the English Department at Texas Southern University several years ago. Dr. Beller specialized in Medieval and Renaissance Literature and was also a published author.
