SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Texas Southern faced a tough match-up against UTSA, ultimately falling short with a final score of 12-2 Friday night.
Texas Southern recorded the game's first run in the second inning when Jaden Flores scored on a throw after Jonathan Trejo was caught stealing. The lead was brief as UTSA responded with a strong offensive performance, scoring five runs in the second inning and four in the third to lead 9-1. Texas Southern added another run in the seventh inning when Jose Villalobos scored on a single by Alex Diaz, but UTSA sealed their victory with back-to-back home runs in the seventh.
Six Tigers had hits while starting pitcher Calvin McClendon dropped to 1-1 on the mound.
TSU will look to bounce back in its next game against UTSA on Saturday at 4 p.m.
