Tigers Fall On The Road At Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota hit 15 three-pointers to fuel an 89-53 win over Texas Southern Sunday afternoon.

Texas Southern was perfect from the field within the first four minutes as they trailed 10-7 while the homestanding Gophers foreshadowed what was what to come as they nailed a trio of three-pointers during that span. The contest would turn in favor of Minnesota over the next nine minutes as they went on a 26-11 run which was fueled by five three-pointers while also shooting 9-of-16 from the field. TSU was balanced from the field with six players scoring but committed three turnovers and was 0-for-5 from the three-point line.

Minnesota would lead by as much as 22 with 3:55 remaining but a 6-2 run late in the half by TSU cut the margin to 43-25 as Troy Hupstead and Alex Anderson combined for six points. Minnesota would eventually close the half out with a 45-25 lead.

A Hupstead tip-in early in the second half saw TSU keep the margin at 20 (47-27) but the Gophers once again relied on the three-ball over the next 4:44 as they were 3-for-4 to push its lead to 63-34. The closest TSU would get was 26 points from that point as the Gophers closed out the contest with the win.
Anderson led TSU with 11 points followed by Bryce Roberts' 10. Hupstead and Jordan Gorecki both had five rebounds while Anderson also added three assists.

TSU is back in action on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at NC State in Raleigh, N.C.
