HOUSTON — Texas Southern volleyball kept its SWAC momentum rolling Sunday afternoon, sweeping Mississippi Valley State in straight sets (25–19, 25–12, 25–22) at the Health & Physical Education Arena.
The Lady Tigers were locked in from the start, showcasing a balanced attack and disciplined defense. Outside hitter Morgynne McQueen led the way with 10 kills and a .700 hitting percentage, while Gracie Hill added eight kills and four digs.
TSU's front line was a force, with Kourtni Collier and Lauren Battle combining for 11 kills and several key blocks. Setter Ava Ray kept the offense flowing with 14 assists and added three kills of her own.
The second set was all Texas Southern, as the Tigers jumped out to a 10–2 lead and never looked back. Kennedi Walker and Battle each delivered service aces to keep Valley off balance.
Mississippi Valley made a push in the third, but TSU responded with clutch plays down the stretch, including a kill from Hill and a match-sealing ace by Battle.
Texas Southern returns to action tomorrow night as they host Jackson State at home. First serve is set for 6 p.m. at the Health & Physical Education Arena.
