BATON ROUGE, La. — Texas Southern women's soccer picked up a gritty road win Sunday afternoon, edging Southern University 1–0 at A.W. Mumford Stadium behind a clutch second-half goal from forward Kamara Bradley.
Bradley broke the scoreless deadlock in the 75th minute, capitalizing on a loose ball in the box to notch her third goal of the season. The Lady Tigers controlled possession for much of the match and outshot the Lady Jaguars 19–6, including nine shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Alicia Audu earned her first win of the season and recorded three saves in the shutout performance. TSU's back line, anchored by Melissa Knutson and Gabriela Gonzalez, kept Southern's attack quiet, allowing just two shots on target.
Texas Southern's offense was aggressive from the start, with Liliane Clase Baez, Azucenq Martinez, and Bradley each testing Southern's keeper Ava Droze early and often. The Lady Tigers also earned seven corner kicks, keeping pressure on the Jaguars throughout both halves.
Southern struggled to generate chances and was held scoreless for the third time this season. Droze finished with seven saves in the loss.
The win marks TSU's first conference victory of the season. The Lady Tigers will continue their road stretch Friday, October 10, as they travel to Huntsville, Alabama to take on Alabama A&M. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
