Texas Southern and Grambling State Battle to 2–2 Draw in SWAC Showdown

HOUSTON — Texas Southern and Grambling State played to a 2–2 draw Sunday afternoon at Durley Field in a competitive Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup.

The Lady Tigers struck first in the opening minute when senior Bailey Buckner capitalized on a loose ball in the box to score. Grambling responded in the sixth minute with a goal from Sophia Lezizidis, assisted by Liana Bryant.

Texas Southern regained the lead less than a minute later when Kamara Bradley netted her fifth goal of the season off a pass from Clara Dotigny. Grambling equalized in the 16th minute with a goal from Chloe Bryant, assisted by Kaylen Jankans.

Despite a scoreless second half, both teams had opportunities to break the deadlock. TSU goalkeeper Alicia Audu recorded six saves in the final 45 minutes, including a diving stop on a penalty kick in the 55th minute. Grambling outshot Texas Southern 25–11 and held a 9–3 advantage in corner kicks.

Buckner and Bradley led the Lady Tigers with one goal apiece, while Dotigny added an assist. TSU's defense held firm in the second half, with Audu's performance preserving the draw.

Texas Southern returns to action Friday, Oct. 25, traveling to face Prairie View A&M.
